Zurich North America has a special relationship with New Orleans, the host city for the Zurich Classic, and with the Fore!Kids Foundation, which plans and oversees the Zurich Classic and distributes the proceeds to nonprofits. Since 2005, when Zurich became title sponsor of the PGA TOUR event, Zurich has stood by the city and its people, from the depths of Hurricane Katrina through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Zurich Classic was the first major sporting event to return to the city after Katrina in 2006. Then, in 2020, when the pandemic forced the cancellation of the tournament, Zurich came through with the charitable funding that a typical year’s tournament would generate — more than $1.5 million. Fore!Kids rapidly adapted to pandemic safety protocols so that it could distribute those funds to nonprofits in the New Orleans area in a time when people needed the support more than ever.
The 2021 Zurich Classic marks the tournament’s return and Zurich’s 17th year as proud sponsor. Zurich announced a seven-year contract extension in 2018 that will continue its sponsorship through 2026.
Since Zurich became title sponsor, the Tournament has generated approximately $500 million in economic activity for the New Orleans community and raised more than $24.5 million for charitable organizations, supporting 200,000 children in need annually. Zurich’s commitment to New Orleans exemplifies how it collaborates with others to create resilience and help the communities it serves.
