New Orleans (February 8, 2006) – Phil Mickelson, David Toms, Chris DiMarco, Davis Love III
and Mark Calcavecchia have all committed to play in the PGA TOUR event, which will be held April 24 - April 30 at
English Turn Golf & Country Club.
"It's rare that we hear from so many big names this early in the year," said John Subers, President and CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation,
producers of the annual tournament. "We are so grateful to these guys for their support as it will help us raise more money for needy children
in our area."
Mickelson, a New Orleans fan favorite, holds 27 PGA TOUR victories, including the 2004 Masters Tournament, and the FBR Open, AT&T
Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, BellSouth Classic and the PGA Championship in 2005. His best finish at the Zurich Classic was T3 at the
2005 event. Last year, he ranked 3rd on the career money list, 3rd on the world money list and 3rd on the 2005 money list.
Toms, a Louisiana native, is best known to local fans as the winner of the 2001 Compaq Classic of New Orleans. Toms has 12
victories to his name, including the 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii and the 2005 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. In 2005, he was
ranked 5th on the money list, and 7th on the career money list and world money list.
DiMarco, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR, finished T3 at last year's Zurich Classic after leading most of the tournament.
2005 had DiMarco landing a career-best seventh place on the money list and qualifying for his sixth consecutive TOUR Championship.
He was a member of the victorious U.S. Presidents Cup squad, clinching the matches with a 13 foot birdie putt to win.
Love is an 18-time winner on the PGA TOUR. His most recent wins include four victories in 2003 at the AT&T Pebble Beach
National Pro-Am, The Players Championship, MCI Heritage and the International. Love won the New Orleans PGA TOUR event in 1995.
In 2005, Love surpassed $2 million in earnings for the seventh consecutive season on the strength of nine top-10s.
Calcavecchia holds 12 PGA TOUR victories, including the 2005 Bell Canadian Open. His best finish this year was T15 at the
Mercedes Championships. In 2005, he finished in the top 30 on the money list and earned over $2 million for the first time in
his 24-year TOUR career.
