New Orleans (April 18, 2005) – Davis Love III has officially committed to play in the 2005 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The Zurich Classic is scheduled for April 25 – May 1 at the Tournament Players Club of Louisiana. Heath Slocum will also join the Zurich Classic field.
Love III is an 18-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including the 1995 tournament in New Orleans, the 1997 PGA Championship, and the 2003 PLAYERS Championship. He currently is ranked 27 th on the TOUR money list and 4 th in career money leaders with over $30 million won. His best finish this year was T2 at the MCI Heritage.
In 2004, Love surpassed the $2-million mark in earnings for the sixth straight season and went over $3 million for the second consecutive year. In 2004, he also brought his career total of runner-up finishes to 26, which is the second-most by an active TOUR player.
Love is a five-time member of the World Cup team, a six-time member of the Ryder Cup team, and a five-time member of the Presidents Cup team. This will be Love’s first return to New Orleans since the 2003 event in which he placed T16.
